Míl Gin already receiving great interest on the international market

18th April 2018:  Alltech Beverage Division Ireland (ABDI) has today officially launched Míl Gin, an Irish pot still gin, distilled with fragrant Mediterranean botanicals. The new product is already making waves on the international market with launches planned for the UK, mainland Europe, The US, Japan and China in the coming months.

Bursting with southern sunshine, Míl Gin is full-flavoured small-batch gin, distilled with Almond, Basil, Bergamot Orange, Gooseberry, Juniper, Olives, Orris, Rosemary and Thyme.

Speaking at the launch, Conor Ryan, Global Spirits Ambassador for ABDI said, “There is literally nothing on the Irish market like Míl which makes us really excited. It is quite simply a full-flavoured Mediterranean gin which does not try to be anything different. The base is a pure Irish grain spirit which is then distilled with a range of wonderfully fragrant Mediterranean botanicals. Míl has already been received with great interest on the international market. It offers a distinct herbiness which makes it stand out among the other premium gin products on the market.”

The development of Míl Gin began with a team of ‘ginthusiasts’ at the Pearse Lyons Distillery, based in the refurbished St. James Church in Dublin’s Liberties. Inspired by the links between this historic site and the Camino de Santiago in North-West Spain, where tradition has it St. James is buried, they began exploring recipes for an Iberian-Irish fusion gin.

This voyage of discovery led them to Míl, the mythical Spanish warrior who’s descendants are said to have populated Ireland, bringing with them the warm flavours of the sun. Míl Gin captures the essence of this expedition, suffusing pure Irish gin with the taste of the sunny Iberian peninsula - land of Almonds, Basil, Bergamot Orange, Gooseberry, Juniper, Olive, Orris, Rosemary and Thyme.

Tasting Notes

On the nose Míl Gin (ABV 42%) has summerfresh citrus and subtle herb notes of basil, thyme, rosemary and piney juniper. The taste is fresh bittersweet with a clean citrus finish.  The signature serve is a wedge of grapefruit and a basil leaf.
