The Brief

Bord Bia’s annual Foodservice Seminar is attended by more than 300 delegates each year who hear from leading industry speakers on emerging trends in the foodservice market. Foodservice includes all food consumed out of home including in restaurants, pubs, hotels, coffee shops, workplace catering, hospitals, education, and vending. On the day of the event, Bord Bia also releases the findings of its annual Irish Foodservice Channel Insights Report which tracks consumer behaviour and sentiment when eating outside of the home. Our team has provided Bord Bia with communications support for the event for six years.

The Approach

We work closely with Bord Bia to provide strategic input on the event format including reviewing MC, speakers and content in advance. We also review the annual channel insights report, and agree and refine the key news hooks for media consumption before preparing all press materials. Our main role involves extensive media relations activity including pitching and securing interviews, press release syndication and coordinating photography in advance of and during the event. We also assist in generating content for social media use.

The Impact

Each year the approach has resulted in significant high-profile media coverage including lead business interviews on RTE’s Morning Ireland, Newstalk’s Business Breakfast and extensive national print media coverage. The activity has helped to positioned Bord Bia as a thought leader in the Irish foodservice industry. It has also served to highlight the important work Bord Bia is doing to support the sector by providing insights and advice. In more recent years our role has expanded to include co-ordination of an event wrap-up video to share on Bord Bia social media channels.
